The main reason is the main vocals will take the handheld mics, support vocals + main dancers will take the microphones so they can sound perfect :). The another reason ( very very small ) that the programs doesn't have enough handheld microphones for them.

There's another reason though why they have different mics. Sometimes, they don't have enough mics so they divide themselves like main dancers and singers.
